A perfect DIY Barn and Tipi Wedding

An Awesome Barn and Tipi Wedding for Harriet & Rob

What a wedding day the lovely Harriet and Robert had in May. When I met up with them on a glorious sunny day in Williamson’s park for their pre wedding meeting, we were praying the weather was going to be the same for their ambitious DIY Tipi Wedding reception. I say ambitious as Robert and Harriet had a vision of turning an old cow shed on Robert’s family farm into a show stopping wedding reception venue and boy did they pull it off!!! I love it when my couples put in the effort for their perfect wedding days. No rules to follow, they chose everything and implemented it perfectly. From the Tipi extension to the digger filled with ice and drinks for the DIY bar.

The day started with Bridal Preparations

I started the day at bridal preparations at Roberts family home in pilling. All the ladies were busy getting hair and makeup done when I arrived. Everyone was very excited especially Harriet’s nieces and nephews who were perfect page boys and flower girls.  We then made the 40 minute journey to the ceremony venue.

Ashton Memorial Ceremony 

Before we made our way to the Tipi Wedding Reception there was a small matter of actually getting married. Harriet and Robert had chosen when of my favourite wedding venue’s to get married in The beautiful Ashton Memorial in the centre of Lancaster’s Williamson’s park. As Harriet isn’t from the area a lot of her friends and family had never seen the memorial and so didn’t know what to expect. I think I can safely say they were blown away by the grandeur of the memorial. After the lovely ceremony there was time to have some Bride and Groom Portraits while their guests enjoyed a drink.

The Barn and Tipi Wedding Reception

The Grandeur of Ashton Memorial compared to the rustic DIY Tipi wedding reception was a complete surprise to all the guests. Everyone was amazed. Going from sipping champagne in one of Lancaster’s most iconic buildings to drinking a beer and playing limbo outside the Tipi and Barn wedding reception. The Tipi was an extension to the barn cow shed from Tentipi. You walked into the tipi where the bar area was and then the curtain was pulled back and the Cow Shed was revealed in all it’s glory. The rustic flowers from Picking Posing against the wooden tables and corrugated metal wall of the cow shed looked awesome. They had thought of everything. A DIY wall made from crates to explain the running of the day, a story board picture wall of Harriet and Rob, Ladders hanging from the ceiling holding up beautiful drapes and flowers. The amount of effort these guys put in to make it the perfect day was amazing.
